Angie Pastor - “Alone”

~Zumi Underground

It’s Hump Day; let’s jazz it up. I found out about Angie Pastor browsing Instagram (follow her @angpastor ) when a clip of her talents came up with a #music tag I was following. I was blown away immediately. Not to take away from her unique artistry, but familiarity just helps my brain process things and I got some Norah Jones meets Alina Baraz vibes as I kept listening to post after post on her IG.

“Alone” is a fantastic chill track that could not be more appropriate for 2020. The lyrics are a bit on the melancholy side with lines like “Music in my ears so I don’t have to hear the sound of the dark within my fear”. However, as I’ve said in posts of previous songs, depending on your mood, you could definitely infer some good feels from the mellow groove and bright melody. There’s also a really nice guitar solo presumably played by Pastor herself.

This young New York artist has 3 singles out so far. I can’t wait to see what she’ll do down the line with a studio album or even an EP.
