AquaMarine & Lockqe - “Cosmic Honey”

~Zumi Underground

Gotta love music and technology. “Cosmic Honey” was created with a virtual collaboration by US-based artist AquaMarine and Philippines-based artist Lockqe.

Being in the EDM subgenre, future bass, “Cosmic Honey” starts with a flavor I can’t help but simply describe as cute with bubbly little piano notes. And it’s really cool what AquaMarine can do with just a few lines of a vocal sample—repitching it, adding effects, and arranging it throughout the song to bring everything together.

And of course we can’t have a dope EDM track without a fire build up and drop. Lockqe delivers for us with her unique sound design on the saw chords. The song feels so seamlessly dynamic drifting in and out of the soft, flowy vibes mixed into sharper staccato bass hits.

Even within the subgenre, this track stuck out to me with a unique sound and arrangement. If you’re new to future bass, I don’t think there’s a better place to start than with “Cosmic Honey”.
