Jax Anderson - “Queen”

~Zumi Underground

I first learned of Jax Anderson and her band when I saw them open for PVRIS.  They went by Flint Eastwood at the time in case you see this song under that name in some places too.  Their genre is hard to place.  Wikipedia is calling them “alt pop” so I’ll go with that.

“Queen” is no exception with its interesting, dark pop vibe.  You’re met early on with some hard hitting horns that make you aware royalty is approaching.  As we get into the verse, the minimalist, rumbling instruments take a back seat to Jax’s calm, assertive vocals.  Then once we get back to the chorus and get those horns blasting again, we’re feeling like freakin superheroes ready to take on the world! It’s Monday so kick some ass this week!
