Kenichiro Nishihara - “Beautiful Things” Remix ft. Amanda Diva

Got another amazing jazzhop track for you guys today. I tried my hand at being a ride share driver for a few months a couple years ago. I had a playlist of “liked” songs running at the time and this one came on. My passenger asked who it was and by the last couple run throughs of the chorus was singing along as best as he could. He wasn’t a great singer and he of course didn’t really know the words, but I couldn’t be mad or annoyed at him in the least bit. How could one not just wanna groove along to this?

It’s honestly moments like those that made me want to start a site like this. There’s just so much good music in the world that you’ll never hear on your radio and I wanna help people find new tunes to enjoy.

Okay enough sentimental; on to the track. I think of “Beautiful Things” as a modern version of “Favorite Things” by Rodgers & Hammerstein. We’re trading out some of the drama and dynamics in “Favorite Things” for a consistent, energetic bounce throughout “Beautiful Things” though both lyrical concepts are about appreciating life’s beauties to get through tough times which we’re probably all feeling at least to some degree in this unbelievable year.

I alluded to it already, but “Beautiful Things” is a relatively simple track with repeating piano measures, bass, and percussion loops with some lovely vocal runs from Amanda Diva being the most noticeable variances in the song. This is definitely an example of beauty in its simplicity. While “Favorite Things” has those punctuated, dramatic notes on “When the dog bites / When the bee stings”, it’s a bit of a mood changer for those moments. “Beautiful Things”, on the other hand, just keeps the good vibes rolling the whole time to where you wanna start singing along even when you don’t even know the words.
