fox capture plan & bohemianvoodoo - “Golden Forest”
This Color & Monochrome 2 EP is a brilliant collaboration of two talented jazz bands—fox capture plan, a trio of piano, bass, and drums and bohemianvoodoo, a quartet of guitar, keyboard, drums, and bass.
“Moon River (∞ Climax Mix)” ft. @annapantsu - The Consouls
This isn’t the first time I’ve posted about a cover, but I’m pretty sure it’s the first time I’ve done a cover of a cover, but it’s just such a full, rounded version of the song I had to write about it.
Bad Snacks - “Lucky”
Bad Snacks’ first vocal track is an absolute BANGER and I didn’t realize that I was missing this the whole time I’ve known of her. Please do yourself a favor and give it a spin.
The HU - “Sad But True”
Any metal fan out there has heard of Metallica and has probably heard their “Sad But True”, but I don’t know how many of you have a heard a cover of it quite like this (except for the 11 million people who already have…or maybe the 1 person who watched it 11 million times on their own).
Becky and the Birds - “Wondering”
A simple yet beautiful soulful track from Becky and the Birds. I love tunes you can really groove to, but also serve as chill background music while you’re working or studying when needed.
Jacob Tillberg - “Ghosts”
Happy Halloween! Consider Jacob Tillberg’s “Ghosts” to perhaps add to your Halloween party playlist.
Unlike Pluto - “Oh Raven”
I tagged this as Alt Pop because I don’t know what else to call it to be honest. That said, click in and give it a listen yourself. All I know is it’s a banger, whatever genre you wanna call it. Comment at the bottom of the post if you have a better spot to put it in!
Pillow Weight - “Tensong (Easy As)”
Feel the Pillow Weight of the world listening to this heavy alternative track. Okay, I’m sorry. I had to.
AquaMarine - “Lost Thoughts”
Check out this brand new banger from AquaMarine! This is such a beautifully arranged track and I can’t get over how well the mood shifts back and forth.
Ci Majr - “Guillotine”
The latest single from Ci Majr is another freaking BOP, y’all! As I said last time we did a post of a Ci Majr song, they are a master of happy sad songs.
Ugly Heroes - “Roles”
After the disturbing tragedy we had in Atlanta last week, this song came through my shuffle this afternoon and hit me harder than usual.
Marcus D & Pismo - “Hit the Crowd”
“Hit the Crowd” is the first song on the album and man…the track title is so appropriate. It hits in all the right places throughout the track. Classic jazz hop beat that Marcus D tends to gravitate to that I can’t get enough of.
Adele - “Hello” (Marshmello Remix)
You’ve never heard Adele quite like this. Check out this dope EDM remix Marshmello made of Adele’s hit single “Hello”.
Wagakki Band (和楽器バンド) - “Homura”
This band is truly something else. Wagakki means traditional Japanese musical instruments which are heavily featured—in the thumbnail of the video, a shamisen is being played which is kind of like a 3-string guitar that’s generally played using a plectrum—however, it’s hard not to call them a rock band. This is one of the coolest fusions I’ve heard of traditional folk music and modern electronic instruments and styles.
Curse - “Warum nicht?”
After such an insane and frankly terrifying week we just got through, “why not” pretend life is okay (it’ll make sense when you read the post) with this smooth jazz hop track from Curse.
Fuze the Mc - “That Wave That Fire”
I love the chill groove on this track. It kinda lets me relax and melt away. Also, I don’t come across many 1 verse songs, but I think there was enough packed in the verse that it didn’t feel lacking. Definitely worth a quick 2 min of your time to check it out!
Angie Pastor - “Alone”
If you’re a fan of Norah Jones and Alina Baraz and wondered what their styles blended together might sound like, I think it would come out like this talented young artist, Angie Pastor.
AquaMarine & Lockqe - “Cosmic Honey”
Gotta love music and technology. This EDM track was created via virtual collaboration by US-based artist AquaMarine and Phillippines-based artist Lockqe.
Soulstice - “Sleepwalk”
I love tracks like this that let you take away as much or as little as you want from it and enjoy it no matter what.
“SleepWalk” gives us a nice long intro to really get entranced in the music. The hypnotic strings and steady drums lull me to tranquility before Soulstice’s smooth vocals layer in.
Caravan Palace - “Dramophone”
“Dramaphone” is about as quintessential electro swing as it gets—an energetic BPM in the 120s, muted horns and saxes, simple lyrics (sometimes absent all together), swingy stand-up bass, all accented by electronic percussion.
